Senior Support After Surgery in Palo Alto

After surgery, you can't drive, can't carry bags, and getting to the pharmacy is a whole ordeal. VoGro volunteers can help with the day-to-day stuff while you heal.

The doctor says "take it easy"

But the groceries still need buying. Prescriptions still need picking up. After a hip replacement, knee surgery, or any big operation, you might go weeks without being able to drive or carry anything. Sitting at home alone doesn't help either.

VoGro sends a local volunteer who can handle the practical stuff so you can actually rest.

What a volunteer can do

Grocery shopping — they bring it to your door
Prescription pickup from any Palo Alto pharmacy
Errands — mail, dry cleaning, returns, whatever comes up
Someone to talk to on the long recovery days
More help or less help as you heal — you decide
No commitment. Use it for two weeks or two months

Used by local hospitals

Stanford Health Care and El Camino Health refer patients to VoGro after discharge. Our volunteers help cover the gap between leaving the hospital and getting back on your feet.
