Grocery Shopping & Delivery for Seniors in Palo Alto

A local volunteer shops from your list and drops everything off at your door. No app to download. No subscription. No fees.

Getting groceries is harder than it sounds

For a lot of seniors in Palo Alto, a routine trip to the store becomes a real challenge. Difficulty driving, limited mobility, recovery from surgery, or just the effort of carrying bags can turn a weekly grocery run into an ordeal. Some people end up skipping meals or just eating whatever's already in the pantry.

Delivery apps are confusing and expensive. Most people would rather have someone they know walk into a familiar store and pick out the right items.

How VoGro helps with groceries

VoGro matches you with a local volunteer who lives nearby. You give them your grocery list — by phone, on paper, however works for you — and they handle the rest. They shop at the store you prefer, bring everything home, and can help you unpack.

Works with any Palo Alto grocery store — Trader Joe's, Safeway, Whole Foods, and more
You only pay for the groceries — VoGro is free
No app download required — call or go online
Same volunteer each week so you get to know each other
Volunteers will follow your dietary needs and preferences

What to expect

1

Share your grocery list

Call us or submit a request online with your shopping list and preferred store. We'll take it from there.

2

A volunteer is matched to you

We match you with a background-checked volunteer in your neighborhood. They'll introduce themselves before the first visit.

3

Your volunteer shops for you

Your volunteer picks up everything on your list. If something is out of stock, they'll call you for a substitute or skip it — your choice.

4

Groceries brought to your door

Your volunteer brings the groceries home and can help put them away if you'd like. You only pay for the groceries themselves.

Safe and trustworthy

Every VoGro volunteer passes a background check, gives references, and goes through orientation before being matched. You'll always know who's coming, and you can switch volunteers at any time.

After my hip replacement, I couldn't get to the store. I asked for help and someone local brought groceries the next day. She even helped me put them away.
